Coach Robert

Robert is originally from Thibodaux, LA and began coaching the Shockwave Aquatics in 2005. Robert became assistant coach 2005 and has produced several individual state champions and one state record holder. Robert has also revamped a 10 and under program into a steady and competitive group that has not previously existed with Shockwave.

Coach Robert P. also holds position of head coach at Columbus High School where he was an assistant for one season. Prior to this, he served as assistant swim coach at Starkville High School for two seasons helping lead the Lady Yellow Jackets to their highest finish in school history in 2005 and 2006.

Robert has been associated with Mississippi swimming since 1991 as both swimmer and coach. As a swimmer, Coach Robert set 37 individual state records and was awarded the Mississippi Swimmer of the Year award for a record eight times. Coach Robert achieved Top 16 swims eight times in his career including a lifetime best of fourth nationally in 2000 in the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke. Also, Coach Robert holds the Mississippi All-time scoring record as the only swimmer to ever eclipse the 15,000 point mark in a career.

Outside of the pool, Robert is a senior teaching and coaching major at Mississippi State and a sports writer for the Commercial Dispatch.
